Abstract

The experiment was conducted on 100 twenty weeks of age of native chickens. The birds were allocated into five experimental diets and each was divided into five replicate groups of four birds per replicate. The treatments were: R0 = 100% based diet (BD) + 0% fish oil (FO); R1(98.5% BD + 1.5% FO); R2 (98% BD + 2% FO); R3 (97.5% BD + 2.5% FO); and R4 (97% BD + 3% FO). Chicks were fed ad libitum. The results showed that no differences in abdominal fat percentage, and liver and heart weight, between treatments R1, R2, R3, and R4 compared to treatment R0 (control), but the carcass percentage was highly significant different between treatments. It can be concluded that fish oil can be used as an alternative feedstuff in native chickens diet at inclusion levels up to 3% without negative effects on the performance.
