Abstract
Lucanide beetles play a very important role in forest ecosystem and as an crucial element of
biodiversity. The objectives of the research were to study the lucanids beetle abundance
(Coleoptera: Lucanidae) in the Tangkoko Duasaudara nature reserve, North Sulawesi. Research
was conducted over three months. Ecological samplings were conducted in three degree of forest
habitat (primary forest, secondary forest, and margin forest). Beetles were surveyed by using light
traps. The result indicated that number of species recorded was 18 individuals consist of 5 species.
The highest abudance of species found in primary forest, while the lowest at the margin forest.
