Abstract
Literature based, simulated base temperature for plant grovdh is not accurate as the field. Temperature always fluctuates and often unpredictable. Thermal time is a recent concept to emulate the relationship between temperature and plant growth. lt conelates plant growth rate and average air
temperature. Thermal time considers minimum temperature which is assumed to still allows physiological process to proceed. lt is not always easy to determine base temperature for plant growth in the field because of great temperature variability with seasons, time of the day, geographic position, plant species, and plant development phase.
There is no informatlon on the base temperature for the growth of the economically demanded corn plants for baby-corn. This research is aimed to study the growth base temperature for com plants that are harvested for baby corn.
Results show that base temperature varies with plant development stages. Base temperature
germination stage is 10.34 °C, flowering initiation 4.575 °C, flowering immerging 9,57 °C, anthesis 6.595 °C and harvest 10.84 °C. The average base temperature for the development of baby corn harvested plant is 8.384 °C
