Abstract
The objectives of this research was to count diseases incidence and severity. The surveys of the vanilla
stem rot disease incidence were conducted in North Minahasa, west part of centre Minahasa, east part of centre
Minahasa, and South Minahasa. Each region was chosen three areas (villages), and each area was chosen
three farms. The strategy of disease severity survey like in disease incidence survey, but per area only
conducted in one farm. Sampling vanilla plant in each farm was carried out according to a trancept method
protocol, as follow: 2 – 3 transepts per farm, and vanilla plant as a sample taken along these transepts (with
sampling interval). The number of sample namely 20 % from the number of vanilla plant.
The highest disease incidence was found in North Minahasa (69.42 %) followed by South Minahasa
(60.49 %), West-Centre of Minahasa (49.94 %), and East-Centre of Minahasa (46.42 %), while for disease
severity as follow: North Minahasa (55.02 %), South Minahasa (53.63 %), East-Centre of Minahasa (31.19 %),
and West-Centre of Minahasa (26.57 %). Statistically, the incidence not significantly different from the severity
of disease.
