Abstract
This research was carried out of Biotechnology Laboratory, faculty of agriculture, UNSRAT, from May to October 2008. The objective of this research was to find out the interaction of gel solidity and Murashige & Skoog (MS) concentration for mahoni seed germination. The experiment was designed using factorial randomized complete design. The first factor was gel solidity that consist at of three different treatment namely: A1: 4 g/l, A2: 8 g/l, and A3: 12 g/l. The second factor was Murashige & Skoog (MS) concentration that consist of three namely: M0: 0% MS, M1:50% MS, and M2: 100% MS. The result showed that there was interaction between gel solidity and MS concentration on radicula development. The fastest radicula appear at in 50% MS and 12g gel /l treatment, viz 13.33 days. The slowest was in 0% MS and 4 g gel /l viz 31.67 days. There was not interaction the seed germination percentage, number of shoot, number of leaf and plant hight, but as a single factor, the treatment of MS concentration had signifant result. As a single factor, 50% MS and 0% MS concentration were the best treatment for germination percentage, number of shoot, number of leaf and plant high.
