Abstract
Abstrac - One of the factors that can cause an underground cable to experience interference is the temperature increase in the cable. The hot temperature in the cable can cause a partial discharge which will later be the beginning of the failure of the cable. At the research location, ground cables were planted on the shores of the Kawasan Megamas of Manado City. The temperature of the surrounding area where the cables are planted is classified as hot, resulting m in lesser lifetime of the cables.
The results of the calculations showed that the value of the current carrying capacity in the cable planted in the research location is 214.41 A, which value is still below the standart current carrying capacity of the NA2XSEYBY 3 x 150mm2 cable, which is 272 A. The high value temperature will reduce the current carrying capacity of the cable.
Keywords : Underground cable, current carrying capacity, thermal resistance, thermal calculation of underground cable
