Abstract
Abstrac - Power breaker is a mechanical switch equipment that is capable of closing, flowing and breaking load currents under normal conditions according to its rating and capable of closing, flowing and breaking load currents in specific abnormal conditions / disturbances according to its rating.
Meanwhile, during the operation of an electric power system, disturbances often occur, where the cause of the disturbance can cause the circuit breaker to trip. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the performance and feasibility of Power Breakers. The tests carried out are insulation resistance testing, contact resistance testing, contact synchronization testing.
From the results of the insulation resistance test, the value obtained is above 150 MΩ, meaning that the insulation material being tested is still in good and safe condition. While the results of the contact resistance test according to the measuring point in each phase obtained values below 50 μΩ. In the simultaneous test according to the results of the calculation of the time difference obtained both at open and close each is under 10 ms. After testing and calculating the insulation resistance, contact resistance, and contact synchronization, therefore the performance of the power breaker can carry out or trip according to the normal simultaneous performance or its reliability is said to be still suitable for use.
