Abstract

Abstract — Circuit Breakers (CB) are one of the main components in power systems that play a vital role in ensuring the continuity and reliability of electric power delivery, both under normal operating conditions and during system disturbances. One commonly used CB technology is the SF₆ (sulfur hexafluoride) gas-based CB, which is known for its high insulation capability and reliable arc-quenching characteristics. However, component degradation due to operational age and environmental conditions can affect the performance of the CB and increase the potential for system failures. This study aims to analyze the performance of SF₆ gas-insulated CBs located at the Tasik Ria Substation using the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method. The data analyzed includes results from visual inspections, in-service measurements, and shutdown measurements. Based on this data, failure modes, causes, and their effects on each CB unit are identified to assess the potential risks and develop appropriate preventive recommendations. The results of the study indicate several failure modes that pose risks to CB performance. Through the FMEA approach, a cause-and-effect mapping is developed, which serves as the basis for formulating predictive and preventive maintenance strategies. This research is expected to contribute to improving the reliability of the power system and serve as a reference for implementing FMEA on high-voltage equipment in substations. Abstrak — Pemutus Tenaga (PMT) merupakan salah satu peralatan utama dalam sistem tenaga listrik yang berperan penting dalam menjamin kontinuitas dan keandalan penyaluran energi listrik, baik dalam kondisi normal maupun saat terjadi gangguan. Salah satu teknologi PMT yang umum digunakan adalah PMT berbasis gas SF₆ (sulfur heksafluorida) yang dikenal memiliki kemampuan isolasi tinggi dan karakteristik pemadaman busur listrik yang andal. Namun demikian, degradasi komponen akibat usia operasional dan kondisi lingkungan dapat memengaruhi kinerja PMT serta meningkatkan potensi terjadinya gangguan sistem. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kinerja PMT bermedia gas SF₆ yang berada di Gardu Induk Tasik Ria dengan menerapkan metode Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Data yang dianalisis mencakup hasil visual inspection, in-service measurement, dan shutdown measurement PMT. Berdasarkan data tersebut, dilakukan identifikasi mode kegagalan, penyebab, serta dampak yang ditimbulkan untuk setiap unit PMT, guna mengetahui potensi kerusakan dan menyusun rekomendasi tindakan preventif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa mode kegagalan yang berisiko terhadap performa PMT. Melalui pendekatan FMEA, diperoleh pemetaan hubungan sebab-akibat yang dapat dijadikan dasar dalam menyusun strategi pemeliharaan prediktif dan preventif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan keandalan sistem tenaga listrik serta menjadi referensi dalam implementasi FMEA pada perangkat tegangan tinggi di gardu induk.
