Abstract
Abstract — This study aims to analyze the performance of
a 20 kV vacuum-type Circuit Breaker (CB) installed in cubicle SR
7 at the Ranomuut Substation. The primary focus is to evaluate the
operational reliability of the CB based on five technical
parameters: insulation value, leakage current, contact resistance,
contact synchronization, and vacuum level. Measurements were
conducted directly in the field using standardized testing methods
with a current injection of 100 A. Initial testing results indicated a
performance decline in phase T, evidenced by a vacuum leakage
current of 374.4 mA and a contact resistance of 69.2 µΩ—both
exceeding the technical threshold limits. After corrective actions
and replacement of the vacuum interrupter, all parameters
returned to standard levels. The contact synchronization value also
improved to below 1 ms, indicating that the CB’s mechanical
response had returned to optimal condition. These findings confirm
that vacuum degradation and insulator contamination are the main
causes of CB performance deterioration. This research highlights
the importance of condition-based maintenance programs in
enabling early detection of component performance degradation,
thereby ensuring the overall reliability of the electrical distribution
system.

Abstrak — Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis
performa Circuit Breaker (CB) tipe vakum bertegangan 20 kV
yang terpasang pada kubikel SR 7 di Gardu Induk Ranomuut.
Fokus utama penelitian adalah mengevaluasi keandalan
operasional CB berdasarkan lima parameter teknis, meliputi nilai
isolasi, kebocoran arus, resistansi kontak, sinkronisasi antar
kontak, serta tingkat kevakuman. Pengukuran dilakukan secara
langsung di lapangan dengan memanfaatkan metode pengujian
standar dan injeksi arus sebesar 100 A. Hasil pengujian awal
menunjukkan indikasi penurunan performa pada fasa T, ditandai
oleh nilai arus bocor kevakuman sebesar 374,4 mA dan tahanan
kontak 69,2 µΩ—keduanya melebihi ambang batas teknis. Setelah
dilakukan tindakan perbaikan dan penggantian vacuum
interrupter, seluruh parameter kembali dalam batas standar. Nilai
keserempakan kontak juga membaik hingga di bawah 1 ms, yang
mengindikasikan bahwa respons mekanis CB telah kembali
optimal. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi bahwa degradasi kevakuman
dan kontaminasi isolator merupakan penyebab utama penurunan
kinerja CB. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya program
pemeliharaan berbasis kondisi (condition-based maintenance)
dalam mendeteksi dini degradasi performa komponen, guna
menjamin keandalan sistem distribusi tenaga listrik secara
keseluruhan.
