Abstract
Communication is a basic element of the human interaction which enabled anyone to determine, maintain and increase the relationship with other people. One of the factors that affected the satisfaction of inpatient service is a good intertwined communication between doctor and patient. The communication competence determines a success in helping the settlement of patient’s health. The aim of this study is to analyze the correlation between doctor-patient communication and satisfaction level of inpatient at RSUP Prof.Dr.R.D.Kandou Manado.
The research method is a descriptive analytic with using a cross-sectional study. The research population are patients who are eligible: above 21 years old or has been married, conscious, able to read or write, well-communicated, and ready to participate in research. The primary data is obtained by questionnaires. The sample amount in this research those are 82 patients. The statistic analysis used univariate descriptive analysis and bivariate descriptive analysis with a method test of Multiple Regression and coefficient analysis of Pearson Correlation.
The result of this study has showed that verbal communication correlated with the satisfaction level of inpatient, nonverbal communication correlated with the satisfaction level of inpatient, and no correlation between verbal and nonverbal communication simultaneously with the satisfaction level of inpatient.
Based on the study result, it can be concluded that majority of patients have given a positive assessment to verbal and nonverbal communication those intertwined with their doctors.
